Copyright kills WA's debt monster

Western Australia's `Debt Monster' appears to have been killed off, but not by improved state finances.

Instead a copyright claim by a body representing the international recording industry has led to YouTube removing the clip, featuring the theme song from Game of Thrones, which WA Labor had posted.

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry objected to the use of the song from the popular television series being used as Labor politicians Ben Wyatt and Rita Saffioti criticised Premier Colin Barnett for waking up the debt monster with out-of-control spending.

A WA Labor spokesman told AAP the video was only posted to help the media view it.
