Cat Haven offers free cats in WA

Perth's Cat Haven is so overrun with felines, they are offering free adoptions for adult pets.

The Cat Haven takes in more than 6500 unwanted cats every year and say they do not want to be forced to euthanise healthy adult cats as the demand for kittens increases.

"Staff and foster carers are at breaking point as we have over 300 cats on the grounds at the moment and over 500 cats out in temporary foster care," spokeswoman Chandra Woodley said.

"With kittens still readily available and in demand, it is virtually impossible to re-home our older cats."

Cat Haven will uphold their usual stringent adoption standards, maintaining the right to refuse adoption to ensure cats go to a loving home.

From Saturday to Monday this long weekend, people can collect their new sterilised, micro-chipped and vaccinated furry friend from the Cat Haven.
