Call to protect Carnaby's black-cockatoo
AAP
A petition with more than 25,000 signatures calling for the protection of the endangered Carnaby's black-cockatoo will be delivered to West Australian Premier Colin Barnett.
Birdlife Australia will deliver the petition on Tuesday, calling for the government's Green Growth Plan to be altered so pine plantations, where the cockatoos roost, are not destroyed.
Program manager Helen Bryant said the birds could become extinct within 20 to 30 years if their habitat is cleared.
