A 12-year-old boy accused of striking a man on the head with a bottle after he was knocked off his motorcycle by a rope will spend Christmas behind bars.

The boy, who cannot be named, appeared in Perth Children's Court on Thursday charged with wounding.

It's not alleged he was involved in tying the rope across the road, but he is accused of hitting 19-year-old Lawson Mills outside the Perth train station on Wellington Street on December 17.

Mr Mills suffered a cut to the back of his head and rope burns to his neck.

The boy was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on February 2.
