Former WA MP Barry Urban, once embroiled in a fake medals scandal, is fighting for his life after he was allegedly bashed at work in Perth's south-east.

Emergency services arrived a short time later and the former MP was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with "critical injuries".

He's set to undergo emergency surgery.

Urban was a member of the McGowan government but he lied about war medals that weren't his and faked documents, ultimately ending in him being jailed in 2021.
