Barnett to abolish some premier benefits

West Australia Premier Colin Barnett may be facing a more modest post-leadership life than his predecessors as he takes aim at his own retirement benefits.

Mr Barnett said on Wednesday that he would be abolishing some of the entitlements a premier receives once they leave office but would not specify which ones.

"I think they are excessive, I don't think they fit into a modern democracy," he said.
