Another ReachTel poll for WA government

Another poll is being conducted to gauge voter sentiment towards the West Australian government, this time targeting Treasurer Mike Nahan in his Riverton seat.

Premier Colin Barnett was furious last month when a group of prominent Perth business people commissioned a ReachTel poll that suggested Riverton was the only one of 11 Liberal-held seats that wouldn't go to Labor in the March state election.

The group included financier John Poynton and property developer Nigel Satterley, who in May accused Dr Nahan of planning a leadership spill against Mr Barnett.

Dr Nahan dismissed Mr Satterley's claim as "bizarre", saying he was one of Mr Barnett's strongest supporters, while the businessman admitted he was angry about land tax increases in recent years.

The latest ReachTel poll asks participants seven questions including their opinion of Dr Nahan and whether they support the proposed privatisation of electricity poles and wires operator Western Power, which the Electrical Trades Union is campaigning against.

Dr Nahan declined to comment.
