14yo boy charged after elderly man robbed

A 14-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly stealing cash and personal items from an elderly man at his southern Perth home.

Police say three males, one of them armed with a knife, broke into the Cannington property late on Tuesday afternoon and confronted the 87-year-old.

They demanded money and personal items before searching the house for half an hour.

The man was allegedly grabbed by one of the offenders during the robbery, but he was not injured.

He was later treated for shock.

Detectives arrested the 14-year-old on Wednesday.

He's been refused bail and is due to face Perth Children's Court on Thursday on charges including aggravated armed robbery and deprivation of liberty.

A second juvenile has been taken into custody for questioning.
