WA driver charged for allegedly buckling up beer cartons, but not children

A Western Australian man who allegedly had strapped cartons of beer into seatbelts in his car while letting child passengers go unrestrained has been charged.

Police officers were conducting a traffic patrol on the Great Northern Highway, north of Broome, when they came across the man on Wednesday.

The suspended driver allegedly had children sitting on adult passenger’s laps and seated in foot wells, while boxes of beer were kept stacked and secured by the vehicle’s seatbelts.

The 27-year-old man was charged with no authority to drive and failure to restrain a child.
