Virus warning after bat dies at West End
AAP
Health authorities are urging anyone who got close to a bat found dying near a popular Brisbane market to contact them.
The bat was found at the West End markets in Davies Park on Saturday and later tested positive to the Australian bat lyssavirus.
"We need to ascertain what exposure the person has had because immediate treatment following a bat scratch or bite can prevent a very serious and usually lethal disease," Metro South Health's Dr Kari Jarvinen said.
