Violence and arrests on the decrease in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley

Queensland's Police Minister and his entourage have toured the new "Safe Night Out" precinct in Fortitude Valley, confident they are finally improving street security.

Police told 9NEWS the precincts are proving a success with an increased police presence as well as ID scanning technology in designated party zones.

"If someone causes trouble, we know who they are," nightclub manager Rick Grigor said.

Police are provided with iPads, giving them access to pictures from 75 council security cameras both in Fortitude Valley and across the CBD, which allows officers to respond quickly to criminal activity.

"The ultimate aim is to make Queensland a great place to live, work and play and that's what it's all about," Deputy Commissioner Brett Pointing said.
