A man is dead after his car veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into a another car this morning in Scotsburn, near Ballarat.
The p-plate driver was travelling north along the Midland Highway near Yenden Number Two Road when he drove into the wrong lane and collided with an oncoming car just after 10am.
The man died at the scene. Emergency crews worked to free a female driver trapped in the second car.
The woman suffered a broken leg and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Victoria's road toll is 96, up from 85 at the same time last year.
