Man charged after shopfronts smashed, man assaulted at Victorian holiday hotspot

A man who allegedly smashed several storefronts and assaulted a man during a rampage at a popular Victorian tourist area has been arrested.

Police said a 26-year-old Hastings man allegedly smashed eight windows at Rosebud's shopping precinct on Point Nepean Road on the Mornington Peninsula, around 11.30am yesterday.

It's alleged the man assaulted another man in the leadup to the incident.

CCTV images have shown the man smashing the windows during broad daylight, as stunned locals watched on.

He was arrested and charged with causing criminal damage, intentionally and recklessly causing injury, assault and weapons offences and will appear in court.
