Billy Brownless breaks down in tears detailing impact of ex-wife's affair with Garry Lyon

Billy Brownless has broken down in tears whilst detailing the impact of his close mate Garry Lyon’s relationship with his ex-wife, whilst slamming rumours The Footy Show co-host had actually slept with his eldest daughter.

Brownless, who was visibly shaking, sat alongside fellow Geelong champion Sam Newman and James Brayshaw in a raw opening to The Footy Show’s 2016 edition, arguing it would have been hypocritical for them not to have addressed the issue.

Lyon is being treated for depression and has withdrawn from all of his media duties after revelations he was in a relationship with Brownless’ ex-wife Nicky.

“Very difficult, we all have our ups and downs and this one has just been too close to home,” Brownless said.

“I just couldn’t believe it, I have found out three or four months ago that something was happening, I did some investigation myself and she told me herself.

“My initial feelings was like anyone else out there, I got angry… you’re headless…and it’s fair to say that I went home that night and shot off a few texts to Garry and Nicky which you wouldn’t want to repeat on this show and then after a couple of days, you get embarrassed because it’s bloody hard to talk about.”

Brownless said his anger had subsided, but said he now felt disappointment because a "mate just wouldn’t do that".
