Work starts on notorious Melbourne bridge

Safety upgrades start this weekend on Melbourne's notorious Montague Street Bridge, which regularly gets buses and trucks stuck underneath.
Montague Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Buckhurst Street and Gladstone Street between 7am and 10pm on Saturday and Sunday for foundation works ahead of the installation of a low bridge height warning gantry.
The three-metre high bridge in South Melbourne is struck almost weekly by trucks and buses, including a tourist coach slamming into it and injuring 11 people in February.
