Vic paraglider finally freed from tree

A woman is finally free after being stuck up a tall gumtree for hours after a failed attempt to land a paraglider in Victoria.

Police say the woman tried to land in Bright in Victoria's alpine region at 10am on Thursday "when she got into strife" and grabbed hold of a tree.

Victoria's State Emergency Service said they found the woman 20 metres off the ground and gave her ropes to secure herself to the tree.

It is unclear how long she was stuck there.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said at 4.30pm that the woman had been freed but was not sure at what time.

The woman was uninjured but there was some damage to her paraglider.
