Woman stable after shooting in Melbourne's north

A woman has been shot in Melbourne's northern suburbs.

The woman in her 30s was shot in Ellam Court, Meadow Heights, shortly before 5.30pm and has been taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with lower body injuries in a stable condition.

Police are searching for the shooter but do not yet have a description of the attacker.
