Woman rescued from fall at Vic peak

A woman was airlifted to safety after falling from a cliff at Victoria's alpine region.

The woman was with two others climbing a rock face at the top of Cathedral Peak at Mt Buffalo about 12.30pm on Sunday when she slipped and fell.

She was the first to start and had climbed about three metres when she fell onto a large rock ledge, police said.

Search and rescue members were dropped at the scene by the police air wing about 5pm and winched the woman to safety before she was taken to Wangaratta Base Hospital for treatment.
