Woman punched during Vic carjacking

A woman has been punched in the face during a violent carjacking in Melbourne's southeast.

A 42-year-old woman had got out of her car in Brighton in the early hours of Thursday when she was confronted by two men who assaulted her and stole her car and some jewellery, police say.

The men sped away and crashed the victim's car into another car in Elwood before abandoning it and fleeing in a dark sedan.
