Woman killed while crossing Melbourne road

A woman in her 60s has died after being hit by a car while crossing a road in Melbourne.

The woman was hit at the intersection of Burnley and Murphy streets in Richmond about 7.15pm Sunday.

She died at the scene despite efforts by emergency services. Police have arrested a 53-year-old man.
