Attacker fled after woman fatally stabbed in Melbourne park

A woman has been found dead at a reserve in suburban Melbourne.

Police were called to the Stanton Street reserve in Doncaster on Tuesday night where it's understood the woman was fatally stabbed before her attacker fled the scene.

"The female has yet to be formally identified and investigators are piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death," police said in a statement.
