Woman found dead inside Melbourne home 'hadn’t been seen for weeks'
Neighbours of a woman found dead in her home in Melbourne’s south-east have been left shocked by her death.
The Box Hill South home remains cordoned off by police tape and Homicide squad detectives were on the scene well into the night, scouring the property for any clues as to how the death occurred.
9NEWS understands the woman’s body was found by a family member at midday yesterday.
It’s unclear how long the body was in the house before the grim discovery was made and police are not commenting on how the death has occurred, saying it was an ongoing investigation.
Neighbours of the victim say she was aged in her 50s, lived on her own but had not been seen for weeks.
“I used to see her regularly and say hi… it’s very confronting to know she’s no longer there,” Steven Hook said.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted this morning. Investigations continue.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
