Woman dragged by car in Melbourne suburb

A Melbourne woman has been dragged along a road by a car after she desperately hung onto her bag that its passenger grabbed.

The 64-year-old woman was walking along a road in the suburb of Deer Park when the car began trailing her about 10am.

A passenger reached out through the window and grabbed the bag, and she was dragged along as she latched on to it.

The bag was eventually torn from her hands, and the thieves fled.

The woman received grazes in the January 8 incident and was shaken, police said.

Police have released images of the green Ford hatchback they believe was involved.
