Woman dead after Melbourne hit-and-run

A Melbourne university student is dead after a hit-and-run, with the car involved later found dumped nearby.
The woman was struck while crossing a road near Monash University's Clayton campus about 9.45pm on Thursday.
The dark-coloured wagon was later found at a nearby property.

It was thought to have been speeding before the Wellington Road crash and anyone with dash cam footage is urged to contact police.
Monash confirmed the woman was a student at the university.
"The university extends its condolences to the victim's family and friends, and all those affected by this tragedy," it said in a statement.
