Melbourne teen fights for life as police hunt flannelette-wearing girl following stabbing

A teenage girl is fighting for her life after being stabbed in the neck on a bike path near a shopping centre in Melbourne’s south-east this afternoon.

The 16-year-old from Pakenham was stabbed as she walked along the bike path at Narre Warren, at 1pm.

She was flown to The Alfred Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police are now hunting for another teenaged girl, last seen wearing a flannelette shirt. Witnesses told police she was last seen heading towards the Fountain Gate shopping centre.

Officers established a crime scene on the path, following the attack and spoke with several witnesses.

It is unknown if the pair were known to each other.

Police said they are looking for a Caucasian woman with a solid build and dark hair.
