Carl Williams stepdaughter to stand trial over attempted murder

The former stepdaughter of slain underworld figure Carl Williams and her defacto partner exchanged smiles as the man they're accused of attempting to kill gave evidence in court.

Serkan Kala, 22, says he was chased to his car by two men, one yelling "shoot him again" moments after being shot in an industrial street in Broadmeadows.

In a committal hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday Danielle Stephens, 22, and her de facto partner Sanar Ghanim, 25, pulled faces and whispered to each other as Mr Kala was questioned by their defence lawyers on Friday.

Stephens, the daughter of Carl Williams' ex-wife Roberta Williams, Ghanim and their co-accused Tugay Afacan, 23, are charged with attempted murder, intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury and causing serious injury.

Stephens and Ghanim were ordered to stand trial by Magistrate Elizabeth Lambden on all charges.

Both intend to plead not guilty.

Ghanim said he would also plead not guilty to an additional weapons charge but guilty to two drug charges.

It's alleged Afacan drove to an industrial street in Broadmeadows where he shot Mr Kala while Stephens and Ghanim were in the car.

The court has previously been told 22 shotgun pellets were lodged in Mr Kala's face, chest, arms and groin.

Mr Kala said via videolink it took him several seconds to recover from the shock of being shot and by that time Afacan and Ghanim were running toward him.

He said Ghanim was yelling "shoot him again, shoot him again".

"He was behind Tugay (Afacan), they were both chasing me back to my car," he said.

Mr Kala said Stephens stayed in the car throughout the incident.

He knew Stephens name because "everyone knows Carl Williams' stepdaughter".

Stephens, Ghanim and Afacan, who was committed to stand trial during a separate hearing, will face a joint directions hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday.
