Washing machine sparks large Melb fire

An electrical fault in a washing machine has sparked a $200,000 blaze in a Melbourne house.

Fire crews found the Altona Meadows house fully alight on Wednesday afternoon, with the rear of the house completely destroyed.

No one was home at the time and investigators say the fire started in a washing machine and quickly spread throughout the house and caused $200,000 worth of damage.
