Victorian man seriously injured after being trapped under bogged car

A man is in hospital after becoming stuck under his car in mud north-west of Melbourne this morning.

Police believe the man, aged in his 30s, was parking his car at a fishing spot in Brookfield when it began to slide down an embankment at 9.20am.

The man tried to stop the car sliding, but it rolled over the top of him.

A bystander helped to free him before emergency services arrived.

The man was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with head and chest injuries.

He remains in a serious condition.
