Victorian man charged after bakery siege

A 69-year-old man has been charged after a six-hour siege in which two women were held at gunpoint inside a Victorian bakery.

Officers were called to the cafe in Rye at 7.45am on Saturday, and the man eventually gave himself up without incident about 3.20pm.

It is believed he was known to both women.

Police said the man has been charged with two counts of unlawful imprisonment and firearm offences, and has been remanded in custody to appear at the Frankston Magistrates Court on Monday.
