Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says he wants 2016 to be about preparing for the rapid growth the state is experiencing.

Victoria is growing faster than any other state, and on the first anniversary of the Andrews government coming to power, the premier says he wants to prepare for it.

"I'm very much focused on staying ahead of that growth," Mr Andrews told AAP.

Labor lost a minister over bullying claims and a government whip because of union corruption claims, but Mr Andrews dismissed the internal strife as part of politics.

"Sometimes issues come along and I think you're well defined by the way that you handle them," he said.

"Those issues, we'd prefer that they didn't occur, but we handled them properly.

"In terms of other internal matters, this is the rough and tumble of politics, but I'm very proud to lead a united team."
