VICTORIAN CRIME OVERALL FOR THE 12 MONTHS ENDING MARCH 31

* 543,391 offences recorded, an increase of four per cent

* The four per cent increase is the lowest since the year ending March 2015, with updates released every quarter

* Offence rate of 8824.8 per 100,000 of the population, an increase of 2.5 per cent

SIGNIFICANT UPWARD TRENDS

* Homicide up 20.3 per cent

* Assaults up 7.9 per cent

* Robbery up 19.6 per cent

* Sexual offences up 11.9 per cent

* Transport offences up 58.4 per cent

REDUCTIONS

* Drug dealing and trafficking down 11.4 per cent

* Arson down 20.1 per cent

* Weapons and explosives down 2.4 per cent

* Disorderly and offensive conduct down 6.2 per cent
