Victoria's training providers face review

More than 5000 Victorian students could have their qualifications recalled following a urgent review of training providers.

The state government will investigate low quality vocational education and training providers after complaints students were receiving qualifications despite demonstrating no skills.

Minister for training and skills Steve Herbert said 2500 students had already had their qualifications recalled and a further 3000 may face a similar outcome.

The review will include consultations with key industry and employer groups, unions and peak bodies representing the state's training providers in coming weeks, with a final report due in April.
