A Victorian woman has been charged for making false threats in relation to an aircraft at Hobart Airport.

Tasmania Police say the 41-year-old woman, from Knoxfield, made remarks about having an explosive device in her luggage.

It is alleged she made the remarks at the check-in counter and again on the tarmac.

The woman was removed from the flight by airport security.

When questioned by police, the woman said she made the comments as a joke.

The flight was delayed for an hour while police confirmed the complaints were false.

"Making statements in relation to explosive devices at airports is an offence and will be taken seriously," Acting Sergeant Robert Bessell said.

The woman will appear in the after-hours court on Saturday morning.
