Three teenagers have been arrested after they used hammers to break into a Melbourne service station and steal cash and cigarettes.

The trio broke into a Hoppers Crossing service station about 4.30am on Wednesday before fleeing in a stolen car, police say.

The boys, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old, were arrested in Norlane and are assisting police with their inquiries.
