Classes will start at Lilydale TAFE in 2016 after Box Hill Institute won the right to run the mothballed campus.

The Lilydale campus, in Melbourne's Yarra Valley, closed its doors in June 2013 after the previous coalition government changed higher education funding.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews will announce on Monday morning that Box Hill Institute, Deakin University and William Angliss Institute will run courses in Lilydale.

The campus will host higher education courses, child care services, a tech school, a biosecurity centre of excellence, and an industry research centre.

In opposition, Labor promised $10 million to get the campus buildings up to scratch, after the site was mothballed in 2013.

Swinburne University owned the site but decided not to reopen it despite Labor's $10 million pledge.
