Vic should have bike pass law: committee
AAP
Victoria law should be changed to ensure motorists leave at least a one metre gap when passing bicycles, a parliamentary committee has recommended.
The committee's report released on Thursday outlines 17 recommendations including that motorists passing bicycles be allowed to cross double lines if it is safe to do so.
South Australia, Queensland, NSW and the ACT currently enforce minimum bicycle passing distances while Tasmania has outlined "safe distances", the Amy Gillett Foundation says.
