Vic shoe lover nabbed with 1000 pairs

Imelda Marcos has a rival for famous shoe collections after a man was nabbed with 1,000 pairs.

A Melbourne shoe fancier is under arrest after being found with a vast stash of allegedly stolen footwear.

Police say they had been investigating the mysterious disappearance of "A LOT" of shoes in the Kilsyth and Mooroolbark areas over recent weeks.

The footwear was allegedly stolen from homes and charity bins.

Police now have to find the owners of 1000 pairs of second hand shoes.

They are inviting shoe theft victims to try pairs on at Mooroolbark police station on March 29 between 11am-4pm.

Unlike Imelda Marcos, the Victorian shoe fetishist seems to prefer flat shoes, particularly battered runners.

Marcos, the widow of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, was famous for a collection of more than a thousand pairs of fancy shoes.
