Vic school manager to front inquiry

The business manager of a primary school that bought two coffee machines worth more than $5000 for a now-sacked Victorian Education Department official will front an anti-corruption hearing.

Janna Ryan, business manager at Brighton Primary School, is expected to take the stand at the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission hearing on Friday morning.

The inquiry has been told her school was asked to pay more than $5000 for two coffee machines, which ended up at the home and office of former department assistant general manager Jeff Rosewarne.

The school was also sent a $5000 invoice, which would eventually fund a department Christmas party in 2008.

IBAC has heard allegations that some senior department staff organised bills for parties, wine and other items to be sent to so-called "banker" schools.

These schools would pay the invoices, often for items they did not receive.

The inquiry is also looking at claims 17 companies linked to former finance manager Nino Napoli and nine of his relatives received more than $2.5 million from Victorian schools between 2007 and 2014.
