Former homes of Victorian World War I veterans could soon be adorned with a commemorative plaques honouring them.
A trial program will be opened to 400 homes in Williamstown, Hawthorn, Geelong and Ballarat where WWI soldiers or nurses once lived, the state government said on Tuesday.
Each plaque will cost the current homeowner $70, with the project to be reassessed before a state wide rollout.
