Vic's first total fire ban day in Mallee

Victoria's first total fire ban day for the new fire season has been declared - in the state's far northwest.

The CFA has issued a total fire ban for the Mallee district on Tuesday, with a severe fire danger rating.

Residents in the Mallee district cannot light fires in the open on Tuesday, the CFA says.

The CFA has advised people living in areas of risk to activate their bushfire plan.
