Austin was serving a five-year residential placement order after committing a sexual assault.

A man fitting Austin's description was seen at 6am yesterday in Kew East, pushing a mountain bike along the Main Yarra Trail near Willow Grove, wearing shorts and a jumper.

Austin - who has an intellectual disability - had two years remaining on his order after being convicted of rape.

He has dollar sign tattoos on his leg and finger and a rat's tail hairstyle.

Police have warned members of the public not to approach him.
