A former Victorian public servant has admitted plotting to siphon off taxpayer dollars through corrupt awarding of contracts.

Albert Hoe Ooi, who is in his 60s, pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court in Melbourne to conspiring to defraud in the awarding of works contracts and to corruptly receiving $6700 in outdoor furniture.

The charges stem from Operation Fitzroy, the first major investigation from Victoria's Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission, which targeted the transport sector. Ooi will face a plea hearing in March.
