Three times as many police are keeping Victorians safe this Anzac Day as in previous years following recent terror raids.

Acting Chief Commissioner Tim Cartwright also says that for the first time Anzac parade officers are armed, a move likely to become the norm.

"While the numbers have trebled it's still not an oppressive number," he said on Saturday.

Premier Daniel Andrews says police, who were the targets of an alleged terror plot foiled by the raids, are being shown strong support from the crowd and community.

"It is always of really considerable concern when you have issues such as those raised by events last weekend ... and that means that you have to take every step you can," he said.

Mr Catwright said he wasn't aware of any incidents on Saturday, other than illness.
