Victoria police seek help to identify body found in bin

A T-shirt featuring a Korean boy band is a key clue for detectives trying to identify a man whose body was found dumped in a Melbourne wheelie bin.

A garbage truck driver picked up a bin in Butler Street in Preston about 8am on Saturday and watched on his TV monitor as a body dropped into the truck.

Police are treating the man's death as suspicious but have been unable to identity the victim.

Detective Sergeant Mark Butterworth said the driver was "quite distressed".

"The bin isn't from the immediate area where the pick-up was made," he told reporters in Melbourne on Sunday.

"I'm not in a position to describe the condition of the body until such time as a post-mortem examination has been made."

Police say the man is of Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid-40s, about 171cm tall with a medium build, dark hair and an unshaven face.

He was wearing grey/blue Everlast tracksuit pants with two white stripes down the side, black Nike runners and a white T-shirt with a motif for Korean band Big Bang's 2015 world tour that shows a hot rod and the five band members.
