Vic police chopper tracks speeding driver

A woman was tracked by police helicopter and apprehended after she was seen driving at speeds up to 180km/h.

The police helicopter was en route to another job when officers were alerted to a speeding car on the Hume Freeway, at Mangalore in central Victoria.

They tracked the car for about 60km as the driver re-fuelled at Eurora, and then took to back roads before stopping at a dead-end in Balmattum.

"The helicopter crew landed the aircraft before ground units arrived and spoke to the driver, a 30-year-old Ringwood woman," according to a Victoria Police statement.

The woman was taken to Shepparton Hospital for assessment and police are yet to lay charges.
