Vic Police check on 300 arsonists
AAP
Victoria Police have knocked on the doors of more than 300 arsonists to make sure they aren't starting bushfires.
Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said as the temperatures and winds increased the bushfire danger rating to extreme, police have checked on known arsonists.
"We've got over 300 of them on our list, and we go and knock on doors, tell them we're in the area and make sure that we know they're out and about," Mr Ashton told 3AW on Tuesday.

Mr Ashton said police suspect a number of fires over the weekend were deliberately lit.
"We're doing a lot of arson investigations."
Mr Ashton said all age groups were involved in arson, but the group was predominantly men.
