Vic overhauls lax political donation laws

A PROPOSED CRACKDOWN ON VICTORIA'S POLITICAL DONATIONS

* Bans foreign donations

* Caps all donations at $4000 over four years

* Disclosure limit dropped from $13,200 to $1000

* Donations to be published online, in real-time by the Victorian Electoral Commission

* Public funds to help campaign coffers

* Political party membership fees exempt from law

* Ticket price to political events to be classed as a donation

* Fines up to $44,000 and two years jail for breaches to the rules

* Premier Daniel Andrews: "Real time disclosure and a much lower disclosure threshold, that's the key to transparency and Victorians knowing who's donating how much and where."
