Vic officer shot in leg with own gun

A police officer has been shot in the leg with the officer's own gun during a struggle in Melbourne.

Police were called to a man self harming at a hotel on Bell St in Preston on Thursday night.

During a struggle with the man in a hotel room, the officer's gun was fired and the officer was shot in the leg.

The officer and the man were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
