Vic NDIS workers insecure under new plan

Thousands of disability workers will face job and wage insecurity under the Victorian government's plan to privatise the state's health system, the health union says.

The Health and Community Services Union (HACSU)claims the Andrews government has broken its promise to avoid contracting out DHHS disability services.

"The Labor Party election policy platform contains a clear commitment not to contract out DHHS services," the union said in a statement on Monday.

The state government is asking not-for-profit and private providers to show their interest in providing NDIS services.

It also wants the federal government to match the $10 million it is giving service providers to help them prepare for the rollout of the national disability scheme next July.

Health Minister Martin Foley told reporters on Monday the government could not afford to wait much longer for funding.
