Vic man to face murder trial next year

A man charged with shooting another man dead outside a Melbourne shopping centre is expected to face a three-week trial in February.

George Marrogi, 28, briefly faced the Supreme Court of Victoria on Friday after undergoing a four-day committal hearing at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court.

The Greenvale man is charged with murdering 24-year-old Kadir Ors at Campbellfield Plaza on September 26 last year.

Police say Mr Ors was shot in the legs and buttocks as he sat at a bus stop with two other men.

He tried to run away but was allegedly followed by Marrogi into a nearby car park.

Mr Ors died in hospital that night.

Footage from surveillance cameras will be used as evidence during the trial.

He was remanded in custody to reappear in court for a directions hearing on February 12 before the matter goes to trial on February 26.
